Importing contacts from a CSV file
You do not have to type your customers and suppliers over one by one. Export them from your old package as a CSV file and load that file in here.
How to do it
- 1Export your contacts from your old package as a CSV file. Exports from Moneybird, e-Boekhouden, Jortt and Excel are recognised; a semicolon or a comma as the separator both work.
- 2In TelMaar, open the Contacts screen and click Import. You can also reach the same place through Settings, under Switching.
- 3Drag your file into the box or click it to pick the file.
- 4If the column names are in the first row of your file, leave the tick box The first row contains column names switched on.
- 5Under Check the columns, check where every column goes. Below each column name you pick a field, for example Name, Email, Phone, VAT number, Registration number (KVK in the Netherlands), Street, House number, Postal code, City, Country or Notes. Columns you do not need you set to Do not import.
- 6Assign one column as Name. Without a name a contact cannot be saved.
- 7Tick whether you are importing the rows as a customer, as a supplier, or both.
- 8Click Import. Only now is anything saved; until then your file stayed in your browser.
What you see afterwards
After the import it says how many contacts have been added. Rows without a name are skipped; you can already see that number below the table beforehand.
Importing only works in the web app on portal.telmaar.nl, because that is where you pick the file and check the columns.
Not working?
- You get the message that the file appears to be empty.
- Open the file once more in Excel or Numbers and save it again as CSV. TelMaar cannot read exports in another format, such as xlsx or pdf.
- The Import button stays grey and it says you have to assign a column as Name.
- In the column picker above the column with the company or customer name, set the field to Name. If TelMaar does not recognise your headers, you simply set them right yourself.
