Working without signal

In a basement, a warehouse or out in the countryside the connection drops away. The app tells you so, instead of quietly hanging.

How the app notices

The app regularly checks whether the platform can be reached. That is something different from checking whether your wifi is on: with wifi but no internet, everything looks fine while nothing works.

If the platform cannot be reached, a bar appears at the top saying that you have no connection and are working in the saved version. That way you know the figures on your screen are from the last successful refresh.

What simply carries on

  • Screens that were already loaded stay readable.
  • Searching in a list you already had open, because that happens on the phone itself and costs no round trip over the network.
  • Your language choice, your selected company and your signed-in session. Those live on your phone, so you do not lose your place.

What you need a connection for

  • Saving a contact, job, quote, invoice, hours entry or trip.
  • Having a work order signed, because the signature goes to the storage of your bookkeeping.
  • Having a receipt read out.
  • Opening or downloading a document.
  • Anything that moves money, such as preparing a payment batch or creating a collective invoice.

What to do when it goes wrong

If saving fails, you get a message telling you to check your connection and try again. What you entered stays on the screen for as long as you do not close it.

Walk outside or to a place with signal and tap save again. Only close the screen once you are back on the overview, because that is the sign that it really has been saved.
