Set up two-factor authentication
With two-factor authentication, TelMaar asks for a six-digit code from an app on your phone as well as your password when you log in. A password can be stolen; that code cannot.
What you need
- Your phone with an authenticator app, for example Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy
- A computer where you are logged in to portal.telmaar.nl
How to do it
- 1Open Settings and click Security.
- 2Click Set up 2FA. A QR code appears.
- 3Open the authenticator app on your phone and scan the QR code. If scanning does not work, type over the code shown under the image at Manual entry.
- 4Your app now shows a new six-digit code every thirty seconds.
- 5Type the code you see into the field next to the QR code and click Confirm.
- 6If the code is right, this screen shows Active from now on. From your next login onwards, TelMaar will ask you for a code.
Who is required to use it
If you handle money in TelMaar, two-factor authentication is mandatory. That applies to the group owner, the finance manager and the bookkeeper.
You get fourteen days for this, counted from the day your account was created. During that period you see a bar at the top of the app counting down. After that, you can only carry on working once you have set it up.
Not working?
- You get a message saying the code is incorrect.
- Set your phone clock to adjust automatically; if it runs a minute fast or slow, every code will be rejected. Then wait for a fresh code and type it over quickly.
- Your phone will not scan the QR code.
- In your authenticator app, choose to add an account manually and type over the key shown under the QR code at Manual entry.
